“Douglas and his daughter Bailey have written a captivating book that will appeal to science fans of every age,” said Nate Hartung, the entrepreneurial CEO of St. Louis-based StoryBook Genius Publishing. “We couldn’t be more thrilled to help bring their book to the public. One of StoryBook Genius Publishing’s strengths as an independent publisher is finding creative ways to help writers achieve their dreams, whether it’s pairing them with an amazing illustrator or helping them connect with high-quality printing companies typically accessible only through large publishing houses.”
Douglas and his daughter Bailey came up with the idea for, My Name is Stardust, when she was 8. She had been watching TV and became inspired by a comment from astrophysicist and cosmologist, Neil deGrasse Tyson. He said that all life, including us, is made from the same star stuff. She was so excited by that idea that she immediately went up to the family computer and started writing.
Bailey worked with her father over the next year to develop a story that would explore that concept along with other areas of science such as evolution and astronomy. They have worked with professional scientists to review the book’s content to ensure that every fact is 100% accurate.
In his other work life, Douglas is a philanthropist, writer and business leader. He currently is the CEO and co-founder of Loftii and the former president of Glasses.com. Daughter Bailey is now 11.
Hartung says My Name is Stardust is the perfect balance of science fact and wonderment, and he looks forward to publishing future children’s science books by this dynamic father-daughter team.
