Imagining happiness as our first goal in life is not hard to do. Babies and children remind us of that everyday. They spend their day eating, sleeping, learning and being happy. Blissfully happy. As John Lennon said, "When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down happy. They told me I didn't understand the assignment, and I told them they didn't understand life." As adults, we are not doing our homework very well. We have been trained to produce and often this impedes our happiness. We have been trained to use our minds to reason, calculate, analyze, scrutinize, survey, and interpret. (Of course, this is very good in order to pay the bills). It can be very hard to quiet that mind in order to spend a moment doing something that makes us blissfully happy. Spend a moment today doing just that. Being blissfully happy! For most of us, we have gotten ourselves so off track that we don't even know what might make us happy. Instead, we are doing activities to mask our unhappiness - activities that allow us to cope with our unhappiness. If that is the case for you, then start here.... ask yourself what would make you happy then pay close attention to the voice in your head that says, "I don't know what would make me happy". Just sit there and listen to that voice, pay attention to that voice until it leads you to a feeling that you like. If you get that "happy feeling" - follow it....follow it and don't let go. It will lead the way. And if you don't get that "happy feeling" - keep practicing, keep listening to your inside voice, really listen to what it is saying. Then you won't have to imagine happiness anymore, you will be an active participant in creating happiness for yourself, again. Just like you did when you were a child. Imagine that!
That's part of the reason we love what we do at Storybook Genius Publishing. We get to be in touch with our childlike creativity everyday and this makes us very happy! We get to work with authors and illustrators who are creating and that makes them happy! We are one of the few children's book publishers that still accepts manuscripts for publishing consideration. Share your stories with us at email@example.com and start actively creating happiness in your life.
