Bye Bye Summer
Summer is freedom of hopping out of routine without the consequences of sending your exhausted child into the front doors of school. Parents, just as much as children love the ease of summer schedules, staying up late, sleepovers, no bath time because you went swimming, vacations, and the relaxation of being unscheduled.
In just a few days, parents are dreading the alarm followed by the “hurry up” phrases that deme our morning routine. Let’s admit it, we all have them.
“Hurry up and get dressed.”
“Hurry up and eat breakfast.”
“Hurry up and get in the car.”
“We are going to be L-A-T-E!”
As you plan your last few days of summer, stop. Breathe. Slow down. Relish in the nighttime sounds of cicadas, the flashing of the lightening bugs and the rustle as the pool closes for the season.
The laziness of summer is coming to coming to an end……back to school is near…….and before we know it, we are back to routine.
Author, Shelley Michael releasing All Aboard! at BEA and BookCon in NYC.
As a seasoned educator in the field of early childhood, Shelley brings her love of children and her insight into the mind of a child to her writing. A constructivist by heart, she believes in learning through play and that means the more a child gets their hands dirty, they more they are learning through experience. The Adventures of Louise and Her Pink Polka Dot Suitcase is Shelley's first book series and was inspired by her love of transportation and traveling with her daughter and husband. All Aboard!, the first in the series, was released in 2017 at BookExpo in NYC. When Shelley is not traveling and getting inspiration for her next books, she can be found spending time in her beloved hometown of Webster Groves, Missouri.
